dog grooming
Muttz N' Stuff www.muttznstuff.com/Grooming.php
Pixie is extremely shy. I was very impressed with the patient approach Tina took with Pixie. I was thrilled that I could stay with Pixie for her first visit. I just wanted Pixie's face trimmed for now, but will definitely bring Pixie back to Tina when it is time for her summer haircut.

dog parks and exercise
Glendale Farm Open Space http://www.douglas.co.us/parksandtrails/Dog_Off_Leash.html
Brewster loves this place. Instead of standing around watching dogs, dog owners hike around the perimeter of the park, as the dogs explore and socialize. This moving forward momentum provides for a more positive dog interaction.

dog training

Let’s face it. Dog trainers train people. Patty of Pawsative Approach Dog Training Inc. did a great job teaching me how to train Brewster and explain what really motivates a dog.

The Loved Dog: The Playful, Nonaggressive Way to Teach Your Dog Good Behavior by Tamar Geller www.tamargeller.com
I found Tamar Geller’s book to be a quick, straight-forward, inspirational read and a nice introduction to the positive reinforcement dog training method.

pet products
Busy Buddy Tug-a-Jug http://www.busybuddytoys.com/View.aspx?page=dogs/products/toys/busybuddy
Brewster does not like to dine alone. If we are in the living room, he will grab this toy and his dinner to go. I think this product is also a great for dogs that inhale their food. Why not make them work for it?

Are we there yet?

Easy Rider Car Harness http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2751400
Brewster doesn’t mind riding in the car and would actually sit still while the car is moving. One problem with leaving him loose is that I would be watching him to see what he is up to, which could be a driving hazard. Also, when Brewster is tired he does not brace himself when I go around corners, I can only imagine what would happen if I had to suddenly stop short. Safety first!
